I think we know enough - A Spark from Layla

Hello,

This is the first issue of Spark Space, a place where I’m exploring leadership, systems, and how they actually show up in practice.

I’m also building a few free products along the way. It’s how I’m learning (and having fun).

I’d love to hear how you’re seeing the future, both the good and the bad.

I Think We Know Enough

Decisions don’t usually stall because we lack information.

There’s something else underneath. A shared, unspoken reluctance to be the one holding the consequence of being wrong.

So we do something very human. We spread the risk. More data. More alignment. Another conversation.

The decision gets diluted across people and meetings until no one really owns it.

And the strange thing is, it starts to feel responsible. But mostly it just keeps circling.

The work of leadership here isn’t about having more data or more seniority. It’s recognising when the information gap is actually a courage gap.

Most of the energy goes into why we shouldn’t act.

What shifts things is a deliberate move toward why we should, not to override the room, but to balance it. To bring what we already know back into focus.

It’s a small move. But it changes more than it looks.

I’ll be exploring this topic in more detail at the Leading The Product Leaders Forum in Melbourne on 13 May and Sydney on 21 May where the theme is perfect vs possible.

If that’s relevant to you or someone in your network, details are here: https://www.leadingtheproduct.com/leaders-forum/agenda/

It’s an interesting time to be in product and technology. I find myself thinking about it more than I probably should.

Layla
