These pieces are written over time, but they explore a small number of recurring patterns.

If you’re new, the easiest way to navigate Spark Space is through the collections below.

Spark Space

A thinking environment exploring how systems, people and technology interact.

Most systems don’t fail because we lack insight.
They fail because they’re not built to recognise it when we do.

When Systems Stop Seeing

Why good ideas get ignored, early signals get missed, and problems only get taken seriously once they’re too big to ignore.

Hidden Work of Leadership

The work leaders do that isn’t in the job description, managing tension, creating clarity, and keeping things moving when it would be easier not to.

Designing for Humans, Not Metrics

What breaks when we optimise for growth, engagement, and efficiency, but ignore how people actually think, feel, and behave.

From Products to Presence

How AI is changing software from something you use to something that works alongside you, adapting in real time to context and need.

About

I’ve spent years building and scaling technology products across companies including SEEK, GO1, Envato, and Smiling Mind.
Spark Space is where I explore a question that sits beneath all of that work:
Why do systems behave the way they do?
Through essays, experiments, and field reflections, this is a place to examine how human systems can be designed to work better for the people inside them.

These ideas often evolve into workshops, product experiments, and advisory work.If you’re working through something similar, feel free to reach out.
