Spark Space

A thinking lab exploring human systems in the age of intelligent technology.

Layla Foord is a product and technology executive who studies how systems shape human behaviour, from organisations and education to digital platforms and AI.

Through essays, experiments, and field reflections, Spark Space explores how we design technology, teams, and learning environments that work with human nature rather than against it.

Hi, I'm Layla

I’ve spent 30 years building and scaling technology products across companies including SEEK, GO1, Envato, and Smiling Mind.

Along the way I became fascinated by something deeper than product strategy.

Why do systems behave the way they do?

Why do organisations resist foresight?
Why do digital platforms shape behaviour in ways we rarely notice?
Why do some teams scale clarity while others collapse into complexity?

Spark Space is where I explore those questions.

Part leadership reflection, part technology laboratory, it’s a place to examine how human systems, from organisations to AI tools, can be designed to work better for the people inside them.

What Spark Space Explores

Spark Space explores how human systems evolve in a world shaped by intelligent technology.

The writing here moves across four domains.

Human Systems

Leadership dynamics, organisational behaviour, and the subtle patterns that shape teams and decisions.

Technology & AI

How digital systems influence behaviour, from product platforms to emerging AI collaboration.

Learning Systems

Education, mental fitness, neurodiversity, and how people develop awareness and capability.

Experiments

Prototypes, creative explorations, and ideas about what technology could become.
