I wrote this song for my husband, it's in recognition of the way he loves me. It's not a fairtytale, it's real. He holds me exactly how I need to be held. He sees the best in me, even when I don't. We have been together for 24 years. It hasn't been a straight ride. But relationships, take work, and they get stronger each time.
I love you Adam.

I Don't Love Me The Way You Do

[Verse 1]
I don’t love me the way you do
Not with soft eyes and no need for proof
You see the best in the mess I hide
While I still flinch at my quiet side
[Pre-Chorus]
You touch my shoulder like I’m not made of fear
Say the words I need, like they’re always near
But I’ve spent years breaking myself in two
To become the girl that I thought you knew
[Chorus]
The way you hold me
The things you've told me
I want to believe them, but they don’t land true
You love me fully
But I don’t love me
Not the way you do
[Verse 2]
You make space when I disappear
Call it magic when I call it unclear
You wait through storms I can’t predict
You see strength in what I call conflict
[Bridge]
Maybe your love is the map I need
But I still doubt every breath I breathe
So I watch from the edges of something whole
Trying to meet you from the fractured fold
[Chorus]
The way you hold me
The things you’ve told me
I hear them all like a distant tune
You love me truly
But I don’t love me
Not the way you do
[Outro]
Still… I’m learning
Still… I’m turning
To find that version you already knew
To love me gently
One day maybe
The way you do
